October 20, 2026 – I had a page on this site where I unpacked what happened to me in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 in what I called a digital Catholic nightmare in Eastern Ontario. I am going to start again because the last page lacked details and wasn’t the whole story. As Pope Francis said, “we aren’t in an era of change but a change of era” ~ telling a story that involves (1) years of online/digital psychological manipulation (2) one-to-one conversations that I didn’t record and (3) multiple police, court, Diocese situations where I wasn’t party to an important conversation where the outcome affected me and decisions were taken without my being able to know the accusation, the evidence or be able to defend myself ~ this has been an AI-enabled nightmare that current systems and processes can’t even name, let alone respond to.
To sum up, based on what happened to me, I am sure neither the 2021 Capitol Hill uprising nor the Papal Apology were organic events. Digital tech and strategies were used to finesse human behavior at scale, if what I experienced is anywhere close to what others experienced. That is, none of this is “conspiracy theory”; it’s lived experience with enough evidence that if a reasonable person took the time to take it all in, he or she likely would have to acknowledge owners of digital tech have been shaping world events since at least 2016.

Because my experience happened when a Catholic Diocese intersected with foreign influence actors, I sometimes frame it in Catholic terms. For a long time, I thought it was Catholic Rad Trads who were bothering me on Facebook, and making my journey into the Church difficult and I wrote a lot of emails to the Chancery staff, who interpreted the situation badly, with an eye to political opportunities the situation afforded.
Who or what is Shepherding the flock? AI? (This was the question I asked in 2016, to the Diocese, as I was just starting to understand “God” as the Catholic institution understands that, and also having conversations with engineers, developers, people in tech about social media, the Fourth Industrial revolution, the building of Skynet.
Before saying more, to avert the hysterical objections of people who conflate questioning the exact cause of the Kamloops media spectacle in 2021 with denialism, I do think Truth and Reconciliation was overdue. Individuals and families suffered under a regime that wanted to eliminate them, erase their culture or forcefully fit them into an exploitive, foreign culture.
As well, humans ~ Canadians ~ need to steward Earth’s resources much more carefully, and our political processes seem to be losing our capacity to reduce suffering, build prosperity and protect peace. I’m pretty radical when it comes to voluntary simplicity, minimalism, right-sizing our consumption and way of life in order to protect habitats, species, soil and air and water resources. And conservative Christian Opus Dei US Supreme Court and Project 2025 and racist nationalism by the nation that’s the world’s policeman alongside anti-woman, anti-immigrant domestic policies? If there were groups that wanted to influence the voting process in 2021, I certainly understand why.
As for digital interference, politicians tell voters what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear; I’m not opposed to campaigning. Influence campaigns are very human. But voters in a democracy should know what technology is exists, and when and how it is being used against us. Surveillance capitalism benefits the already-powerful, and disadvantages everyone else more than any other human innovation thus far.
I think Canadians could deal with anything as long as they were given enough information to UNDERSTAND what is going on. Gas-lighting traumatizes humans. Who or what is Shepherding the flock?
I don’t want it said I am creating false stories to influence an election because I am not. There is *always* an election coming up in a year or two, and “election interference” is just the straw man argument of partisan hacks. The problems of intrusive surveillance, the lack of data sovereignty in Canada, an insecure internet, unregulated digital currencies, the complete loss of privacy including mental privacy, wealth inequality, the automation of work and loss of means to earn a living, AI ~ everything Pope Francis and Leo XIV have been speaking about ~ are problems we’ll be working on for the foreseeable future. But we can look back to 2021 as an important year. In Canada, Bishops had been circling the wagons for years on historical sexual abuse and 2020 presented them with an opportunity to advance a few Church objectives. Whether or not that proves to be good or bad will be decided later on, but I think Canadian deserve to read firsthand accounts and decide for themselves. Unfortunately, the cult of secrecy in the Church might preclude Canadians from ever knowing how the word genocide came to be used in relation to First Nations and whether the Crown or the government of the day coerced Pope Francis to make his historic apology.
I have learned the very hard way that a strange story needs careful telling. My audience can only be Catholic Canadians because so much of what occurred could only happen in Catholic sub-culture. That said, of that potential audience, only a small percentage have the experience with digital transformation from 2012 up to 2019 and through the pandemic. A smaller still percentage of that Catholic audience understand adult initiation as opposed to growing up in the church. My logical audience meeting these three criteria are likely to be Catholics who are part of the inner circle, whose values are secrecy, loyalty, and protecting the institution above all else. I don’t know how law enforcement or investigators force people to talk. Even more, I think hive mind among older Catholics played a factor where people all knew what they wanted to do (after having been in ‘circle the wagon’ mode for a long time) and events just fell into place because enough upper middle management knew how the system protects itself. Naming names is dangerous; the cover up generation is still ‘protecting the church’.
A good question for 2026 might be: Should Canada not re-consider using tax revenue to prop up a male-dominated totalitarian monarchy with its own legal system exercising hidden and unaccountable power in our politics and institutions?
