Authentica, N100 pitch contest, Italki platform

Fr David Roche told me after I was arrested that “Fr Devereaux didn’t know about the pitch content.” Well, Fr Devereaux lied to the police after committing serious clergy misconduct. My entire life was destroyed because a few priests were so assured that the local police and Crown had their back. Because of this certainty, they refused to hear who I was or where I worked or why I was inquiring about baptism. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Meeting IELTS students through the world’s largest language learning marketplace

In 2019, I was tipped off by a fellow teacher that my face was on the italki homepage for Chinese users. Italki’s Head of Teacher Services had asked me in 2016 if I wanted to have my profile on the English main page but I declined, citing privacy and security reasons. So, without my knowledge or consent they put my face on the China homepage. It was nice to be placed among the top teachers on the platform, but the unwanted exposure lead to other problems.

784 English students from 2012 to 2019

Seven years, 9581 sessions with 784 adult learners:
9585/7 years=1369 sessions/year
1369/12 months=114 sessions/month
114/4 weeks=28 sessions/week
About 20% were 85 min sessions so about 30 instructional hours a week.
Transitioned out of Toronto in 2012, completed small business training, registered as a sole proprietorship in Ontario in 2013. This italki e-marketplace was useful for escrow & scheduling software for several years. I decided to leave in Sept 2019, and now teach independently.
